THE WAREHOUSE - CORINTH, MISSISSIPPI - MAY 24, 2003

Saturday morning we all scurried around trying to get ready to make it over to The Warehouse for sound check. The band finally made it, with the exception of Jimmy who was coming on his own. The guys all looked great and were ready to rock Corinth. We were asked to go to the motel and get Jimmy and his son Nathan and in the meantime must have missed the sound check. Oh well......maybe they don't even need one. When we got back, we were invited over to Cafe Mike's to meet and greet and eat with the guys. That is an experience in itself.......lol! For those of you that have never been around these guys, they are definitely a little wild and crazy!!! :-) Jakson "chicken wing" Spires, you are a class act and thanks for sharing.......Thanks also for making sure we all got fed.....! Jakson had the guys all sign a drumhead for Daric and that was really cool! Darlene says that he really treasures it.

By the time we left Cafe Mike's, it was a bout 45 minutes until time to claim our spots. Time just flies when you are having fun.

The opening act, a local band named Moses Crowe (sp?) did several original and cover songs, but didn't pay that much attention to them as there was too much going on at the time. Donald & Dawn finally arrived and it was great seeing them too. We all took a ton of pics, so I will be posting some of the best soon. :-) After the opening act, Kid Knott from WILD 100.7 announced the fact that Darlene and Daric had come so far and had them come front and center.

The SRA stormed the stage at 9:30 and rocked us into the midnight hour. The radio station had been running an ad that said....Mama lock up your babies......and something to the effect that Corinth will never be the same again and they weren't kidding. Even after 3 days, as I am writing this, I am wondering if I will ever recover. LOL! I was doing way to much rejoicing, so the set list to follow is in no particular order. Jay's son JJ, one of the cutest and sweetest kids around, was there along with Jay's Mom. JJ sang Sweet Home Alabama and had the crowd really going. Like father, like son. :-) This was the first time I have seen Duane with them and he totally smokes on the guitar. You can tell that all of the guys are really having a great time on that stage. Darlene kept reminding me that we were getting the PG version of the show, because Jay brought his son. LOL! The set list:

Train of Sorrow
Bloody Reunion
Beatin The Odds
Wishing Well
Flirtin' With Disaster
What's Your Name
Gimme Three Steps
Mississippi Queen
Dreams I'll Never See
Tough Situation
Stump Jumpin'
I Know A Little
Pay My Dues
Call Me The Breeze
Railroad Man
The Hill
Train Train
Whiskey Man
I'll Fly Away
Highway Song
Sweet Home Alabama

These are the ones I remember, could have been more. Drank enough beer to float the guys back to Alabama, so I could have missed some. ;-)

After the show we hung out and got some more great pics and chatted with the guys and all the friends around. This is my hometown, so I knew everyone there. We decided we should get home and get some rest as I had to go in early the next day and we were having company for lunch.

When Darlene and Daric decided to make the drive to Corinth, I wrote to Jay and asked him about the guys coming to the restaurant to eat and spend some time with them. He responded: "SRA and FOOD, of course we are interested!" LOL! They, Jay, Charles, Jimmy, Scott and Nathan arrived at Pelican's Landing at 11:30 and stayed until around 2:00. How cool is that??? Jakson & Duane had a 14 hour drive back and had to be in the studio, so they couldn't be there. We had a great time and I have to thank Charles here for the entertainment! LMAO!!! Told a lot of really cool road stories and had us all rolling on the floor. These guys are just too much and way cool. I hope that we can get them back here again real soon.

Darlene and Daric made it back to New Mexico in the wee hours of Tuesday morning. I am ready for them to come back and I think they would given the chance. They are welcome here anytime and I am planning on making a trip out there real soon.

Thanks for reading and I hope you enjoyed it. You really had to be here to get the entire story.....
